Malicious Charging Stations Might Be Stealing Your Data

We’ve been telling you a lot about keeping your iDevices secure lately, and while you’ll probably never be the target of most threats we tell you about directly, at least you won’t be able to say we didn’t warn you. Today’s threat to your privacy and data is one you probably never thought about: charging stations. Indeed, stations that allow you to quickly charge your smartphone or another device on the go have grown popular over the last few years.

Bring All The iOS 4.3.5 Security Fixes To Your Jailbroken iPhone On 4.3.3

Apple has been on a security patch release streak this summer. First iOS 4.3.4 fixed the PDF bug that allowed a wonderful web-based untethered jailbreak .  Then, iOS 4.3.5 arrived the following week to close a loophole that allowed sites to make your iPhone believe it was on a safe connection or website when that wasn’t really the case. Unfortunately, users who wanted to preserve their jailbreak had to stay at 4.3.3, and while they did get a Cydia patch for the PDF loophole , everyone was still at risk as far as the connection problem went. Well, not anymore, as one savvy jailbreak developer has found a way to fix the security threat without updating to iOS 4.3.5 and losing your jailbreak

Apple Releasing A Security Patch For PDF Exploit Soon

Remember that iOS 4 PDF exploit in Safari used to jailbreak all devices? It also turned out that anyone could use the same exact exploit as a hack to control someone’s iDevice. Well, rumor has it that Apple has patched up the exploit and is planning to release it soon

Report: iPhone Apps Can Access Contact Information

In June, I reported that some Android apps could compromise a user’s data. Today, a new report calls into question the safety of some iPhone apps as well. The news isn’t pretty: compared with approximately eight percent of Android apps that could cause security problems, 14 percent of all iPhone apps could do the same thing
