Nokia’ has put a big chunk of cash behind the launch of the Lumia 900 , taking over Times Square in New York and hiring an A-list celebrity. The event, which saw singer Nicki Minaj drafted in as a ’secret guest’, featured nine LED displays and 200-foot computer graphics projected over buildings. HTC’s new flagship phone, the One X, looks to be outdated. Already . Last night, Sprint announced the HTC Evo 4G LTE. With a mile long list of impressive specs and the first US phone to feature HD Voice, this is definitely the phone Sprint users have been waiting for.
As a writer here at AppAdvice , I think it’s safe to say that I’ve gone through my fair share of plain text editor apps on both the iPhone and iPad. As Shawn Blanc said, “ You can’t throw a rock at the iTunes and Mac App Stores without hitting a minimalistic writing app .” Yes, there are a lot of options out there. But if you are going to do a lot of writing (be it essays, long articles, blog posts, stories, notes, etc.), then you need to find something that works for you. Personally, I’ve learned to ditch the heavy word processors (like Microsoft Word and Apple’s Pages) and just go plain text – this helps me focus on the actual writing, and not worry about other unnecessary fluff and UI elements (and sometimes the most important thing you want to focus on is getting the words out)
Google has launched an initiative to improve the accuracy of its indoor location fixes. The company started offering indoor maps back in November with Google Maps 6.0 but it mainly covered just shopping centres and airports in the US and Japan. The offering is expanding, and Google wants to make sure that position tracking improves with the new indoor maps
Samsung has posted record profits, which come close to doubling its earnings from the same period in 2011. The company beat the expectations of analysts by announcing a $5.1 billion (£3.2bn) profit for the first quarter of 2012, up from $2.95 billion a year earlier (1.85bn). The figures have been propelled into record territory by sales of the Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets, particularly the Galaxy S2 handset and the Galaxy Note hybrid device.
