If you’re a mountaineering iPhone owner, then we’ve got the perfect app for you: PeakFinder , the popular peak-finding application, has recently gained a USA West version of the app – meaning hikers living in this area can now use the app to discover the names of the mountains around them. Previously, PeekFinder was only available in an Alps version . However, this new addition to the range opens up the application to a much wider audience. Essentially, the app shows full panoramic views of its users’ surroundings, labelling each and every peak within the vicinity.

Many iPhone users were reporting issues with their handset during calls, citing the proximity sensor as being a key problem.

It’s certainly not the most beautiful iPhone 4 case out there, and there are several pretty big negatives to it, but USBFever ‘s Duel SIM Card Cover seems to do the job well enough. The case allows iPhone 4 owners to use two SIM cards with their iDevice, without having to fiddle around with the SIM tray (potentially breaking it) and switching cards around. Instead, users clip both SIM cards into USBFever’s new case, and select the number they wish to use in Settings. According to the case’s site, after a couple of minutes your iPhone will find the desired network.

Great news, Squarespace customers. The service’s official iPhone app has just received an update that brings support for Retina display. Which means the mobile Squarespace application will look super-sweet on an iPhone 4 handset. The app, which already lets users interact with their own website via Squarespace in a whole load of different ways (listed below), is currently free – but does require a Squarespace account (which costs customers a minimum of $8/month)

Overview: Ngmoco, creators of the FPS “Eliminate Pro” have brought us the spin-off, Eliminate: Gun Range. Gun Range places you inside a virtual firing range where effectively shooting the given targets unlocks bigger and badder weapons. The targets vary as you progress through the game and really work your hand-eye coordination. An iPhone 4 exclusive at first, the latest version of Gun Range now supports all iPhone and iPod Touch devices and also adds downloadable content through the use of “In App Purchase”.

It’s fantastic to see how far the speed of the iPhone has advanced. Personally, my recent move from 3G to 4 has left me flabbergasted with the change – I’m very impressed with Apple’s super-quick new handset, to say the least
