Hot Or Not Mobile – Free, Freaky, And (Possibly) Fun

Hot or Not Mobile is a new iPhone application that allows users to rate and interact with a variety of “hotties” (and “notties”) right from their portable iDevice. And, what’s more, the app is free to download, though a pretty hefty subscription fee is required for more advanced features.

Downloading the app couldn’t be simpler, and creating an account can be done with ease. You’re not prompted for a photo, which is nice, nor do new users have to write a sickening bio about themselves (Hi, I’m Joe, I like long walks on the beach and playing with Apple products…).

From there, you’re brought to the main menu screen. You can check out your inbox, your profile, photos, or favorites. Additionally, two bigger buttons at the top and bottom of the screen sit like the suns of Tatooine. One reads, “Nearby”, and the other, “Upgrade Now!”.

From my experience with Hot or Not Mobile, my local area either has very few “hot” users, or you have to upgrade the application to view them. A quick search brought up a list of less-than-desirable characters, all of whom were ready to begin “interacting.”

Yet, if you do come across someone you’d like to get to know, Hot or Not gives users the option to message that person in-app, which is handy.

Currently, Hot or Not Mobile has received a whole load of one-star reviews in iTunes, with many citing the required upgrade as being the key reason. I’m not sure what this upgrade gives you (the developer doesn’t mentioned it in the app’s release notes), but personally, I’m not willing to pay a small fortune ($49.99 for a three month subscription) to find out.

If you’re a fan of the application, let us know why in the comments box at the bottom of this article. And, if you want to check out Hot or Not Mobile, it’s available in the App Store now.
